About

Dr. Alana Longwell is a board-certified internist and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, with extensive experience in inpatient rehabilitation medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from DePaul University in Chicago, where she first developed an interest in how environmental factors affect health. Dr. Longwell went on to earn her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University of Medicine, and completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita.

Before joining Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Dr. Longwell served as Chief Medical Officer at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, where she led the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and the hospitalist program from 2017 to 2025.

Drawn to Hutchinson Regional’s smaller, independent setting and the opportunity to be closer to family in Wichita, Dr. Longwell looks forward to helping build and shape the Inpatient Rehabilitation Program at HRMC. She is excited to utilize her expertise and leadership to support the team and provide exceptional care to the community.
