Allen Fee, C.P.C.U., Chairman of the Board
Diane Lee, C.P.A., C.S.E.P., Vice-Chairman of the Board and Board Treasurer, a lifelong resident of Hutchinson. She holds a Certified Public Accountant Certificate from the state of Kansas. She was a partner in the firm of Bartlett Settle and Edgerle of Hutchinson, and became a principal in the firm of Swindoll Janzen Hawk and Loyd in 2012 when the two firms merged. She has more than 40 years of service in the accounting profession. She serves on private company boards. She has been very active in community organizations including current treasurer of the Delos V. Smith Senior Citizens Foundation, past treasurer of the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce, past chair of the Hutchinson Hospital Corporation and Foundation, past treasurer of the Reno County Historical Society, past director of the Hutchinson Community Foundation. Diane has professional affiliations as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants (KSCPA), where she is a past member of the board of directors, and the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). She obtained a Bachelors of Business Administration, Magna Cum Laude, with a major in Accounting from Wichita State University. Diane has three adult children. Some of her favorite leisure time pursuits are hiking, gardening and travel to visit friends and family. Current HRHS positions: Vice-Chairman and Treasurer of Board of Directors, Member of Finance Committee, Member of Executive Committee.
Keith Hughes, CEO and Vice Chairman at First National Bank of Hutchinson, has served on the HRHS board since 2010. He grew up in Oakley, KS and graduated from Kansas State University with degrees in accounting and corporate finance and later earned a graduate degree in banking from SWGSB, Southern Methodist University. He moved to Hutchinson in 1980 and began a career in banking with First National Bank and has spent his entire career with the bank; with the exception of a two-year period in the 1980’s with a wholesaling and brokerage company. He has held various positions with the bank over the years including his current position as Chairman after 10 years as CEO. Through his role on the HRHS board, Keith recognizes the hospital’s important position in the local and regional economy and he brings great experience and expertise in finance, economics and management to the group. He and his wife Renae have two sons, both mechanical engineers. In his spare time, Keith enjoys home and farm projects, playing golf, reading and hunting.
Lee Spence, is President and CEO of Underground Vaults & Storage, Inc. and has been with the company since 1979. Growing up in McPherson, KS he is a graduate of Hutchinson Community College and received his BSB from Emporia State University where he is currently a Trustee and Board member of ESU. Lee is very active in the community and is currently serving on various non-profit and civic organization boards which include; Reno Country 4-H Foundation, Meals on Wheels, Reno County Historical Society and Salt Museum and past chairman of the Reno County community jail committee. Lee is a member of the Hutchinson Rotary Club, Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce, Hutchinson Executive Association and Trinity United Methodist Church. Having a personal connection with the hospital, all three of his children were born at Hutchinson Regional and his family experienced the tragic loss of his daughter in 2005. His hobbies include racquetball, golf, boating , waterskiing, mowing and exploring underground locations.
Ken Johnson, President and CEO, has been with the healthcare system for over five years and held the positions of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to coming to Hutchinson, he was Chief Financial Officer for Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita, a position he occupied for 7 years. In total, Ken has over 34 years of healthcare leadership experience with positions in large and small healthcare organizations and both for-profit and not-for-profit entities. Ken was pleased to return to Hutchinson when he began his healthcare career as an internal auditor for Hutchinson Hospital Corporation in 1983. He worked at HHC until 1989, when he moved to Wichita to pursue a Master’s Degree in Healthcare, which he received in 1994. Ken is a member of First Church of the Nazarene and enjoys participating in charitable activities in Hutchinson. Ken and his wife Carolyn have been married 35 years and have 2 grown sons.
Rex Degner, M.D., a pathologist, is an at-large representative for the medical staff. He was raised in Great Bend and left to attend Kansas State, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology before attending University of Kansas to receive his M.D. Dr. Degner cheers on both schools, but when pressed, he admits he’d wear purple over blue. After completing his pathology residency, he moved home to Great Bend in 1990 where he practiced for 10 years. In 2000, he joined Reno Pathology Associates in Hutchinson. Dr. Degner and his wife Karla have 4 children. When away from work, Dr. Degner enjoys hunting, fishing and golfing.
Rob Green, Kansas native. Rob holds a B.S. in Construction Science from Kansas State University and an MBA from The University of Kansas. Rob also holds a seat on the Board of Directors of First National Bank of Hutchinson. Rob has three children, Owen, Tess, and Haden. He enjoys gardening and golf and spending time in the Colorado mountains.
Michael T. Hagley, M.D., is an interventional cardiologist at Hutchinson Clinic and the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the University Of Nebraska College Of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine residency at Akron City Hospital, in Akron Ohio and a cardiology fellowship at Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis. He then completed and additional year of interventional cardiology and vascular intervention training at The Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Houma, Louisiana. He has practiced in Hutchinson since 2002 and was the Medicine Service Line Chair from 2013-2015. He is now the Chief of Staff. In his free time he enjoys exercise, Jiu Jitsu, woodworking, playing guitar, and spending time with family.
Valerie Pryor, Realtor for Plaza Astle Realty. She has been a resident of Hutchinson since 2005. She graduated from the University of Central Missouri in 2003 earning a BSBA with a Major in Human Resource Management. Valerie has been a Realtor for 13 years and holds both the CRS and ABR designations. She was named Prairie Land Realtors Reno Council Realtor of the year in 2015, and was recognized at one of Reno County’s 20 under 40 Professionals in 2012. She is involved in several community organizations including The Community Foundation (current board member), Hutchinson Board of Realtors (past board member), Interfaith Housing Services, and Cancer Council of Reno County. She and her husband, Brad, enjoy traveling and spending time with their 3 children.
Tom Sellers was born and raised in Hutchinson. He graduated from Westminster College in Fulton, MO, with a major in Economics and Business Administration. Before joining Luminous Neon in 1990, Tom worked in the commercial real estate business in Kansas City and Cleveland, OH. As CEO at Luminous Neon, Tom divides his time between the company’s locations, making frequent trips across the state. Tom lives in Hutchinson with his wife. He has served as President of World Sign Associates, Chairman of the Board of the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center, Chairman of the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce and as a director of the Hutchinson Community College Foundation board. He enjoys travel and playing golf.
Rick Staab is a proud native Kansan and the President/CEO of both The Clayworks at Disability Supports, and Disability Supports of the Great Plains, a provider of services for individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities in McPherson and Reno Counties. Rick’s first career, prior to joining Disability Supports nearly 20 years ago, was with Morgan Stanley. His postsecondary education from Kansas State and Fort Hays State Universities is in Finance and Economics. In Hutchinson, Rick has served as a member of The Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Advisory Committee, Chamber Board Member and Chamber Board of Directors Chair. He is currently engaged on the Economic Development Advisory Committee to the Greater Hutch initiative. At the Cosmosphere, Rick served six years on the Governing Board, including a term as Board of Directors Chair, as well as a member of the revitalization task force and the subsequent ad hoc revitalization oversight committee. Following the Cosmosphere Governing Board term, he has transitioned to the Cosmosphere Foundation Board as Chairman. Rick’s hobbies include, hunting, cooking, reading and travel.
