University of Miami Advanced Stroke Life Support® (ASLS ®) Class: 

Hands-on, 8-hour simulation-based course on teaching the management of the acute stroke patient; pre-hospital and in-hospital care of the stroke victim.

WHO: Nurses, educators and physicians from hospital emergency departments, ICU or neuroscience units, EMS providers, fire rescue training officers

               Prerequisite: 8-hour ASLS provider training with 84% or higher posttest; class offered the preceding day.

WHY:   Have personnel trained to teach colleagues how to recognize the 5 main stroke syndromes, perform a focused neurologic evaluation, understand prehospital and emergency department protocols, describe the differential diagnosis of acute stroke and the logistics of an emergency acute stroke response team, know how and when to administer t-PA to acute ischemic stroke patients, and apply the six aspects of acute stroke care to hospitalized patients.

REGISTER:  Send the completed registration form and payment prior to Sept. 30, 2017 to reserve a seat. Seating is limited so early registration is encouraged.  

FEES:  Pre-hospital & in-hospital providers for both days: $1,200. Cost includes both days of class, training materials, and course curriculum kits for new instructors. Each curriculum kit is equipped to train six (6) students.
