What is Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation?
Cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation are medically supervised programs designed to support recovery and improve the overall well-being of individuals with cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. Our programs focus on:
What They Are: Pulmonary function tests (PFTs) are non-invasive assessments that measure how well your lungs are functioning. These tests evaluate lung capacity, airflow, and overall respiratory function.
Purpose: PFTs are essential for diagnosing and monitoring lung diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and pulmonary fibrosis.
What They Are: Cardiopulmonary Exercise tests assess the heart and lungs’ responses to physical exertion. These tests involve monitoring heart rate, oxygen consumption, and breathing patterns during exercise.
Purpose: These tests help evaluate cardiovascular fitness and identify any underlying issues.
What It Is: EECP therapy is a non-invasive treatment designed to improve blood flow to the heart. It uses inflatable cuffs on the legs that rhythmically inflate and deflate, enhancing circulation.
Benefits: EECP therapy can help reduce angina (chest pain), improve exercise tolerance, and enhance overall heart function. It is particularly beneficial for patients with chronic angina or those who are not candidates for more invasive procedures.
At Hutch Regional Medical Center, we are proud to offer a comprehensive Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation program certified by the AACVPR (American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation). Our dedicated team is here to support you every step of the way on your journey to better heart and lung health.
