Patient Safety and Quality

At Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System we care deeply about the well being of our patients and their families.

As such, we believe it is important to be transparent and provide our patients with the necessary resources to make informed decisions about their care.

Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System has received six Gold Seal of Approval accreditations from The Joint Commission. The Joint Commission has been acknowledged as the leader in developing the highest standards for quality and safety in the delivery of healthcare, and evaluating organization performance based on these standards. We use these standards to guide how we administer care and continuously improve performance.

We provide measures in seven major areas related to patient safety

Although the infection rates at Hutch Regional are low compared to state and national levels, one infection is one too many.

Every infection that is diagnosed is reviewed by a team of infection and quality experts who analyze how and why the infection occurred, and how to prevent it from repeating. These constant reviews have been very beneficial in maintaining our low infection rates.

While we use manually disinfect surfaces with EPA-registered disinfectants, we offer an extra layer of cleaning by inactivating microorganisms that may not have been removed during the manual cleaning process with our Optimum-UV Enlight™ System. UV-C works by disrupting the DNA sequence of organisms. This renders the cell unable to grow or reproduce, and without the ability to reproduce the cell cannot infect and it rapidly dies.
