We Help You Cope With Life
Patients admitted to the Behavioral Health Unit at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center receive an individualized plan of care in a supportive, caring environment. Our 15-bed, short-term, crisis stabilization unit is designed for adults 18 and older who need mental health care. Our interdisciplinary team of social workers, activity therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants works together to help patients make informed choices regarding the next right steps for improving their mental health. Patients are admitted to the Behavioral Health Unit through a referral from a psychiatrist, Horizons Mental Health Center or other community mental health center.
We encourage patients to achieve their goals by participating in selected treatment activities. These activities may include:
- Medical Psychiatric Assessment
- Medication Education
- Individual Psychotherapy
- Family Therapy
- Group Therapy
- Multifamily Group Therapy
- Activity and Recreational Therapy
- Exercise Groups
- Spirituality / Grief Process Group
- Nursing Groups, which address topics such as medication issues, stress management, relapse prevention, and other coping skills.
Hospital – Based
Because the program is hospital-based, it has several advantages over non-hospital-based psychiatric settings. Medical diagnostic tests are easier to obtain, a wide range of medical professionals is readily available for consultation and patient confidentiality is easier to maintain.
The treatment plan does not end with the patient’s dismissal from the hospital. Instead, we collaborate with the patient in developing plans that meet his/her continuing needs and reinforce gains achieved while in the hospital.
Most health insurance companies recognize the Psychiatric Center. We do accept Medicaid and Medicare. Please check with your insurance company regarding your coverage. Payment plans can be arranged for those without insurance.
