Grieving the death of a loved one is never easy but Hospice & Home Care of Reno County offers a "Space to Grieve" for children 6-17 years of age to provide some coping skills. Hear from two participants from previous camps: "I learned that it feels good to talk about my grandma that died." "Kids Kamp helped me with my anger and not to feel so sad." The 4th Annual Space to Grieve Kids Kamp will be held at the Cosmosphere on June 22nd at no cost to families.
Kids Kamp is a bereavement camp filled with a combination of activities for children to process their grief alongside peers who share similar experiences. Yoga was one activity that the kids learned last year as a method to relax and manage stress and anxiety in a fun way. The Cosmosphere instructors provide interactive activities for participants to be engaged in too.
New to Kids Kamp this year will be a parent session giving parents and caregivers an opportunity to share their grief journey as they also learn new ways to help support their children as experience their own grief. It can be a challenge for parents and caregivers to know what to do.
Any child who has experienced the death of a family member, friend or other significant person in their life can attend free of charge thanks to funding provided by United Way of Reno County, as well as local civic clubs and merchants. Slots are limited, please RSVP by June 7th in order for your child to get a t-shirt. Call our office to get your child registered at 620.665.2473 or visit HospiceRenoCounty.com.
