Every Veteran’s journey continues long after military service ends. For many, that journey includes challenges that are not always visible, including stress, trauma, isolation, anxiety, depression, and the lasting effects of service.
Our community has a unique opportunity to honor that service by ensuring local Veterans have access to the support, connection, and care they deserve.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provides essential healthcare and benefits for those who have served our country. However, access to ongoing mental health support is not always straightforward or easy to access. Coverage limitations, eligibility requirements, transportation, and financial barriers can make it difficult for some Veterans to receive consistent support and connection to other veterans.
The Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation partners with local organizations to help remove those barriers, making mental health and other resources needed more accessible for Veterans in our community.
Supporting Veterans goes beyond words of gratitude. Through community partnerships and donor support, the Foundation helps expand access to mental health resources, reduce financial barriers, and create meaningful opportunities to improve their mental and emotional well-being.
A free monthly group therapy program developed through Horizons Mental Health Center to provide a safe, welcoming place for Veterans to connect with others who understand the challenges that continue long after returning home.
These sessions encourage healing through conversation while helping reduce the isolation many Veterans experience after military service.
Veteran patients receive a flag wristband, patriotic button, discount card and a door magnet during their stay at HRMC. Together, these gestures reflect the organization’s ongoing commitment to recognize and appreciate those who served.
When a Veteran passes away at HRMC, team members line the halls for a Veteran Honor Walk. In partnership with KS4Vets, we pause in silence to honor a life of service and sacrifice.
The HRHS Veterans Committee turns community support into meaningful action. This year, funds purchased six engraved benches for HRMC, supported Veteran fly-fishing trips through Project Healing Waters and designated all proceeds from the Annual Veterans Golf Tournament to Patriots Village to support Veterans housing needs.
The committee also recognizes Veteran employees each Veterans Day with a special gift and discount card.
Each year, the Veterans Golf Classic brings our community together with one shared purpose: supporting the men and women who have served our country. Hosted by Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System, the tournament raises funds that help expand access to mental health resources and support for local Veterans.
The 2026 tournament has concluded, but its impact continues. This year’s proceeds are helping support Patriots Village and its work to address Veterans housing needs in our community.
